Cutting Down Food Miles

Q butchers are doing their bit for the environment by encouraging their customers to support Britain’s regional and local food.

Posters and consumer leaflets entitled “Cut Down Food Miles” illustrate just how far food can travel with examples including lamb from New Zealand 11,500 miles, poultry from Thailand 6000 miles and beef from Argentina 7000 miles.

The promotional material states that Q butchers are loyal to the British brand with home produced beef, lamb, pork and poultry the preferred choice. Meat sourced from regional suppliers or local farms means traceability, quality and freshness.

By buying from a Q butcher, consumers are immediately making a difference. Not only are they supporting regional and local food, they are helping to protect the environment.

The message is -  keep it local, keep it regional, keep it British. Cut down the food miles. Buy local from your local Q butcher!
